msrepl_tran_version

Hi all,
I've just noticed that a new column has been added to a table entitled ''msrepl_tran_version'. Anyone know why this might be?
I'm using sql 2000.

This column is used by replication. Is this table participating in
replication (updatable subscriptions)?
