msmqtask.dll

I tried to install the ENT edition of 2005, the release version. I continue to get an error stating the the install was unable to build the type lib for Microsoft.SqlServer.MsmqTask.dll.

I tried multiple uninstalls scenaios, including cleaning the registry, cleaning the file system, using the cleanup tool from the CTP, and I uninstalled MSMQ.

I can not seem to find my way out of this bag. The net result is that I can not import an existing Database. At least that's the first problem I found.

LT

This is an issue when Microsoft.SqlServer.MSMQTask is left behind in COM+ catalog. You can workaround it by:

1. Open Administrative Tools\Component Services

2. Go to Component Services\Computers\My Computer\COM+ Applications

3. Delete Microsoft.SqlServer.MSMQTask

|||

And what if you get this error and the Microsoft.SqlServer.MSMQTask is not there?

I clicked on ignore eventually, but this should not be ok.

|||The error also happens due to invalid or not enough rights in all the HKCR\Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks. ... keys. The administrator group has only read access. Setting all keys of this group to full access solves this problem

MSI unable to start the SQL instance service

Hi,
I am deploying a SQL on a three node active cluster setup. Each node will
have a SQL instance running in the cluster virtual server context. This is
the baseline setup required for deploying application databases on the three
SQL instances. Application databases are deployed using an MSI which creates
the database, roles, accounts etc.
The problem that I am facing is that when the Application Database MSI
executes, it will first recycle the SQL instance service to ensure that it is
up and running. At that point it is successfully able to stop the service but
fails to start the service giving the below error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event Category: None
Event ID: 11920
Date: 10/12/2006
Time: 2:50:05 PM
User: myDomain\sql_account
Computer: SQLSERVER01
Description:
Product: Application Database -- Error 1920. Service 'MSSQL$\VS01'
(MSSQL$\VS01) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to
start system services.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
The SQL service account has all the permissions on the machine. It is a
domain admin account with local admin privileges. It also has SystemAdmin
role on the SQL instance.
Can anyone tell me if there are any permissions that are missed that could
cause the above error?
Is there a security setting that I can check to validate permissions?
Thanks,
Mehul
The SQL service exists on all three nodes, but is only supposed to run on
one node at a time and then only under the control and direction of the
Cluster Service. You do not have to cycle the service to determine if it is
running, you can use the cluster.exe application or the WMI application
interface to determine if aclustered instance is running.

The configuration is an Active-Active-Active one. Hence the SQL service will
run on each node.

Yes this is correct.
If the SQL instance services need to be restarted, what is the recommended
way?

Msg 6501

I am unable to create assemblies in SQL Server 2005. Everytime I try to do so I get the dreaded "Msg 6501... could not open the physical" error.

Here is the compile syntax I'm using from within Eclipse 3.2.0, which invokes C# .NET, to create my .dll:

/target:library ${resource_name} /reference:"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlaccess.dll"

I then try to create my my assembly:

create assembly match

from

'C:\Documents and Settings\jeff seeman\workspace\mycsharp\new.dll'

GO

Boom! Bad old Msg 6501. Any suggestions?

Jeff Seeman

What is the full error message?

The last part of it should tell you the specific reason it failed ("The system cannot find the path specified.", "Access Denied", etc.). Since you've probably verified the file exists, I'm guessing it's an Access Denied error, meaning that the account SQL Server is running under does not have access to the file. You should be able to fix this easily by modifying the ACL on the directory or moving the file into a directory that SQL Server is able to access.

MSDTC unable to go online

Hi,
I have a problem starting my MSDTC.
I have enable network DTC access (following the instructions in MS KB
817064) on two of my servers before I clustered them. The DTC services run
well. After that, I configured my servers in cluster Node A and B
(Active/Passive). The DTC immediately failed to start. I carried on and
configured my MSDTC resources (following the instructions in MS KB 301600) on
Node A. The other resources like IP, Physical disk, Network name able to
bring online except for DTC.
What is happening? I have tried my best to follow all instructions as
closely as possible. I seems to be struck. Still have to install SQL 2005
but now spend days to resolve the MSDTC issue. Please kindly help me!
Thanks a lot in advance!
Received error like
MS DTC was unable to start because the installation was not configured to
run on a cluster. Please create a MS DTC resource through cluster
administrator. Error Specifics:
d:\srvrtm\com\complus\dtc\shared\mtxclu\mtxclusetu phelper.cpp:534, Pid: 3192,
CmdLine: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdtc.exe
Could not start the MS DTC Transaction Manager.
MS DTC Transaction Manager start failed. LogInit returned error 0x3.
Dear Shann Lim,
Have a look at this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/867520
and let us know if that solved your problem
good luck,
Edwin.
