MSSQL 2000 connection problem, please help

Explanation:
After attaching MSSQL 2000 SP3 server into domain,
Local Admin and SA cannot login into MSSQL
EM and QA are not working.
"Change the MSSQLServer service account to be a domain account. Make this
domain account a member of the
Local Administrators group on the machine." - Tried, but no chance.
Hi
If SA can't login and you have not changed the password, it means that SQL
Server is not running. Check in control panel > services and also check the
NT event log to see what the failures are.

When you have another application that can use the SQL server, have you
then tried to connect to the instance from EM using the account this

registered in EM for connecting to the instance. Have you tried to to

When you have another application that can use the SQL server, have you
then tried to connect to the instance from EM using the account this
application is using? You could also check which account you have
registered in EM for connecting to the instance. Have you tried to to
create a new SQL server registration in EM using Windows Authentication
(while logged on to the server with an account that is local
administrator on the server.

Unfortunatly this user information is not avalible for me. This
application is the closed box.

MSDTC Question - Need Help

Hello All:
Not familiar with SQL but our DB Admin is stuck so I need some help. Our
Webserver is sitting in DMZ and needs communication to SQL on LAN.
Specifically, DTC. What was explained to me is that through a web page,
several tables are updated and DTC supposedly will roll back the process if
something should fail prior to the process completing.
The page hangs. Without the code in the page requiring the transaction, it
goes. I also pulled the server out of the DMZ and back onto the LAN and it
worked. So, this logically points to the Firewall. Looking through the FW
logs, I see RPC packet being dropped. So, I follow Microsoft's fix for
specifying a fixed range of ports for RPC instead if letting it assigning
ports dynamically. I opened those ports from DMZ to LAN and still nothing.
The packets are no longer being dropped but the page will still not display.
I'm stumped.
I woul greatly appreciate any suggestions or help on this one.
Hello,
Based on my experience, this problem is mostly like a network configuration
issue. You can use dtcping.exe tool mentioned in the KB306843 to perform
further research on this problem. In the meantime, please check the
suggestions in the following articles to see if they meet your requirements.

Also, due to the feature of this issue, it usually is very hard to

I was asked a by my SQL admin if there are any vulnerablities for SQL Server
caused by the use of MSDTC? If so are there any patches I need to be aware of
and install?Well, today's Microsoft Security Newsletter list this
